2018 Trends To Get Excited About!

STYLEBrooke SnyderComment
2018.jpg

As we ring in the new year, we are also making way for new fashion trends. Year after year trends are constantly changing. Some we wish never happened, and others we hope will stay around forever. 2018 will be no different. It's now time to find out about a few trends that are going to completely blow up and dominate 2018!

Bustiers

Bustiers are one trend that is coming back, but completely revamped. There are an infinite amount of ways to add a bustier into your everyday look. Try layering them over your favorite t-shirt and throw on a pair of skinny jeans for a elegant, yet edgy look. Or, wear one with high waisted pants to elongate your body.

Sheer Dresses

This year, skirts and dresses are all about what's underneath. Wearing a sheer dress is a prime opportunity to show off any elaborate or intricate undergarments you are wearing underneath. So what if you love this trend, yet aren't a fan of everyone seeing your bra and underwear? Good news for you, is that you can wear basically anything underneath! For a more conservative look try a bodysuit.

Statement Sleeves

A good statement sleeve is the perfect way to add a wow factor to your look without wearing anything too flashy or out there. Balloon sleeves and bell sleeves are going to be super popular this year. Looking for a more day-time casual look? Pair your favorite statement sleeve sweater with light wash jeans and a pair of booties.

Bike Shorts

It seems like the Kardashians are always a few steps ahead of the rest of us. Kim started wearing bike shorts over a year ago and we definitely had mixed feelings about the look, but now everyone should get on board. So why bike shorts? They not only are super flattering, but also show off your killer legs. They can be worn with heels, sneakers, an oversized tee, a blazer....you name it!

Statement Jackets: For a sexy look, pair your favorite LBD with a leather motorcycle jacket or a faux fur coat. If you are looking to steer more towards the conservative side, try pairing it with a tailored blazer.

Sneakers: Turn a dressy outfit into a chic and more casual look by swapping out your heels for a pair of fashion forward sneaks. This is great for a daytime look!

All about the bling: Every time you wear your dress, try adding different jewelry. Adding bold colored jewels creates a fun and colorful look, while adding crystals or metallic will make sure for you to be glistening all night long.

Statement Shoes: Just like adding a statement jacket, a pair of eye catching shoes will certainly do the trick to revamp your plain black dress.

Trends This Holiday Season

STYLEBrooke SnyderComment

We love the holiday season as much as the next person, but are you ever stuck on what to wear to a holiday party? Keep reading for some trends this season as well as some helpful tips and tricks.

Glitter and sequins are a must.- Sparkles are the way to go during the holidays! It's your chance to wear as much or little sequins as you would like. If you're really into the trend, go ahead and rock a full out sparkly dress or jumpsuit. Another option is to accessorize with glitter. Glitter shoes are totally in right now and are the perfect way to incorporate glitter into your look without going overboard.

Yes, turtlenecks are still a thing.- Turtlenecks are good if you're looking for a slightly more conservative look. The best part is that there are so many types, colors, and styles to choose from. Pair an oversized turtleneck with your favorite pair of skinny jeans and booties for a more casual look, or try out a turtleneck mini dress with a pair of over-the-knee boots.

Winter whites- Is white after Labor day acceptable? Of course! Wearing monochrome is one way to add elegance and sophistication to your 2017 holiday look. Walking into your holiday party, you will look like your own winter wonderland.

Socks socks socks- Adding the perfect pair of socks to your outfit is not only an appropriate way to accessorize, but it can also allow you to wear an above the knee skirt or dress without being extremely cold. If you are planning on wearing something that shows a lot of leg, try adding a pair of knee high or over-the-knee socks to match your outfit.

Fierce faux fur- Faux fur is not only comfortable and stylish, but it also can keep you nice and toasty during these colder months. From vests to oversized coats, you can use your faux fur piece to add a "wow" factor to your current look. If you're looking for a stand out look, try going for a bold print of color. The fur trend can be toned down more by going for colors like black, tan, brown, grey, or white.

How Much Highlighter Is TOO MUCH Highlighter?

BEAUTYBrooke SnyderComment

A good highlight means a good day!....right? Well, as much as we all love to have that glowing look to us, there is such a thing as overdoing it. Below are some tips and tricks to perfect your highlighting game.

1high-brow-glow-swatch_0.png

1. Use the proper color.- Highlighter is certainly more forgiving than the wrong shade of foundation, but it is still important to know what color you should be using. If you have darker skin, try golden or bronze shades and if you have lighter skin, go for an ivory tone.

2. BLEND- If you don't really blend in your highlighter it will look like you have random stripes all over your face. Make sure to blend it in really well so you don't run into this problem!

3. Be careful where you are applying it.- If you don't highlight in the correct areas your face can actually end up looking wider. When highlighting your cheeks never blend below because it'll make you look more tired. Apply some on the bridge of your nose to make it appear slimmer. You can also help yourself look more awake by placing some on the inner corners of your eyes.

4. Don't use too much.- Less is more! Too many people make the mistake of layering on way too much highlighter. They end up looking washed out or frosty instead of a subtle glow. You don't want to look like you're makeup is Halloween ready.

Beauty Uses For Household Products

BEAUTYBrooke SnyderComment

You would be surprised how many household products you can substitute into your daily beauty routine. It will also help you save money! Here are 5 common household items you can use in your daily beauty routine.

1. Baby Powder: This can act as a dry shampoo as well as a way to make your eyelashes seem long and voluminous. After you curl your eyelashes, swipe on one coat of mascara, then use a Q-tip to apply some baby powder to your top and bottom lashes. After that, add one more coat of mascara and you're good to go!

2. A Toothbrush: A toothbrush can be used to help tame your flyaways and style bangs. Just spray some hairspray on the toothbrush, then go to town. You can do this for your eyebrows as well! A toothbrush can also be used to declump any mascara.

3. Lemons: If the skin on and around your elbows or knees is a little darker than the rest of your skin, try rubbing them with half a lemon every day. Lemon juice can be used to gradually lighten your hair.

4. Coffee Filters: Run out of blotting papers and in a hurry? Grab a coffee filter! Surprisingly, coffee filters are made out of similar ingredients as blotting papers.

5. Conditioner: If you ever run out of shaving cream, use conditioner! It not only is cheaper, but also doubles as a moisturizer.

The Biggest Skinny Jean Mistakes You May Be Making

STYLEBrooke SnyderComment

One denim trend that has been popular for awhile is skinny jeans. Find the perfect pair of skinny jeans and you are set to out together an infinite amount of on-trend outfits. When you are shopping for and styling your skinny jeans, make sure to be aware and follow a few simple rules.

1. Don't try to stuff your jeans into your boots.

Have you ever gotten ready in the morning and desperately tried to stuff your favorite jeans into your tight fitting boots? Instead of doing this, opt for a loose fitting boot or try cuffing the bottom of your jeans and throwing on a pair of booties. Stuffing your jeans into your boots will make your outfit look more sloppy and not well put together.

2. Don't only wear tight fitting tops or tees.

Lately oversized items are certainly on trend. Try pairing your skinny jeans with an oversized sweater, to create a comfy and cute look this fall. Layering your tops is also a good trick for a put together, yet cozy look. You can do this by putting a nice collared top underneath your oversized sweater and even adding a jacket to keep warm.

3. Don't buy your jeans too small.

Yes, skinny jeans are supposed to be tight, but there is such a thing as too tight. Skinny jeans are supposed to be a little snug in the legs, but the waist should fit comfortably in order for them to be flattering.

4. Don't overdo it.

Yes, printed denim and distressed denim look super cute, but to a point. This is one case where less is certainly more. Stay away from this common fashion mishap by pairing and super distressed or graphic skinny jeans with a very simple and plain top and minimal accessories.

How To Rock Glitter Without Looking Extra

HOW TO, BEAUTYBrooke SnyderComment

Do you wish you could wear glitter on a daily basis without looking ridiculous? Luckily you can! Well, maybe you can't drown yourself in glitter, but you sure can add a touch to your everday look. Follow this tips and tricks and you will be like a real life unicorn.

Glitter Lids

We are complete suckers for glitter eyeshadow. To make glitter eyeshadow a daily look, try going for more neutral shimmering shade like browns, nudes, or soft pinks. If you are looking for a nighttime look, then you can certainly play around with darker and bolder colors. If you want to use actual loose glitter, be sure to prime your eyes first so your glitter will stick.

Inner Eye Shine

If you aren't up to going for a full eyelid of glitter, try highlighting just your inner eye. If you line the inner area of your eye with a bright or light shimmer, your eyes will be sure to look brighter and more awake.

Highlight Your Nose

A great way to add some light and dimension to your face is to swipe some shimmery highlighter on the bridge of your nose. Make sure to lightly blend it so it doesn't look too thick.

Shimmery Lips

If you are looking for a very subtle way to shine up your look, try putting on a shimmery lipgloss. My personal favorite is a nude or clear, with a hint of shimmer. This is exactly how you will look effortlessly sparkling.

Sparkly Nails

If you aren't into the glittter makeup trend, then go for some sparkling nails. Applying a sparkly nail polish will jazz up your look a little without being too noticeable.

This is hands down one of our absolute favorite costumes ever. Miley completely slayed her Lil' Kim costume. Would we expect anything less?

Snooki and JWoww

These Paris and Nicole costumes are too perfect! The blonde hair looks amazing on them as well.

Demi Lovato

Demi's zombie costume scares the living daylight out of us! We love that she took Halloween to the next level by going for a spooky look instead of the typical cat or sexy cop.

Heidi Klum & Seal

Heidi Klum goes all out every year for Halloween and 2011 was no exception. Who would of thought that Heidi is hiding under this very realistic ape costume?

Perrie Edwards

We love that Perrie took the typical cat/cheetah costume to a new level by getting a full out paint job. She looks so fierce!

Your Guide To Body Scrubs

BEAUTYBrooke SnyderComment
body-scrub-7-main.jpg

Choosing any skincare product can be overwhelming with the ample amount of choices provided. But, a good body scrub is the key to relaxation and rejuvenation. Although it may be time consuming and expensive to hit the spa every time, you can have your own little spa treatment in the comfort of your own home. So how do you choose the right body scrub for you?

Well, there are two main bases for body scrubs; sugar and salt. Sugar scrubs are popular because they aren't super abrasive compared to ones based with salt and don't dry out your skin too much. This is a good option if you have more sensitive skin. On the other hand, salt based scrubs are going to be more abrasive and do a better job at smoothing over an rough skin (feet, elbows, and knuckles). They also tend to use sea salts, which are actually natural purifiers that will remove any toxins that block your pores. Sea salt also acts as an anti-inflammatory for sore muscles.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Never use a body scrub on your face because they are more rough than a facial scrub.
  • If you have sunburn do not use a body scrub.
  • Use your body scrub 1-3 times a week.
  • Do not over scrub! This will cause skin irritation.
